It’s Your Thing!

Raise your hand if you made a 2016 resolution/goal to lose weight.

Raise your hand if you have wanted to try the SlimFast diet fad, but have been unsure about how those things taste!

You’re in the right place then.

Starting in early January, I myself decided that I needed to shed a few extra pounds that I had put on this past year. I guess they are right about your metabolism slowing down as you age, because I haven’t done much else differently but I’ve somehow managed to put on almost 10 unwelcomed pounds. So when Influenster sent me a bunch of SlimFast samples in the mail to try, I was very excited!

I started off the new year reflecting on 2015 and setting some goals for myself and my blog in 2016. The first thing that I tested out were the Sour Cream & Onion 100 Calorie Pack Baked Crisps while sitting on my bed reviewing and celebrating 2015 with the Big Dreams, Small Wonders workbook. These were actually pretty good! They satisfied my need for something both salty and crispy and I would compare them to other baked potato chips. For a “diet” type of food/snack, it was pretty agreeable. I even devoured the crumbs at the bottom of the bag! I would definitely buy these on my own, either as part of a weight-loss program or just to snack on when I get a craving.

I’m on the go a lot, always on the road due to having about 7 different jobs, not to mention traveling for shows. I grabbed these to eat on the go! (After opening them, I was disappointed to see the suggestion of adding milk and making it into cereal… that would have been sooooo good!) But alone they weren’t too bad either. Just enough sweetness, although it didn’t really do much for my hunger. They were so light and airy that it didn’t seem like I actually put much in my stomach once it was digested. I think they would have made an AWESOME morning breakfast cereal with some skim milk or vanilla almond milk!

Okay, so this is the product that I was most excited to try; the SlimFast Ready-To-Drink Shake in Vanilla Cream. Oh. My. God. DON’T GO THERE! I wanted so badly to ingest this due to the high protein content but yuck, yuck, yuck! I even gave it two more chances the following day (refrigerated it to keep it fresh) and couldn’t handle more than two sips at a time. It’s chalky and leaves an awful aftertaste, not to mention has a dreadful flavor. It’s one of those drinks where you can just taste the unnatural protein. I tried to pair it with my morning teatox, but ended up having something else for breakfast!

I also received a meal replacement bar that I have yet to try, I’m saving it for an emergency backup on-the-go meal! Thanks Influenster for sharing these products with me in exchange for my honest opinion!

*I received these products complimentary from Influenster for review. Let me know if you are interested in joining Influenster and I will send you an invite!
