Today’s Note From The Universe

notes image for blog

Act with faith, Jessica. Prepare the way for your inevitable success. To the degree you can, behave as if your dreams have already come true, as if you already owned a career in the music industry, as if later today you were going to make it to Nashville. And you shall see the power you wield as the floodgates begin to tremble, the elements begin to conspire, people in your life begin to change, insights are summoned, comprehensions soar, and clarity is born.

Not to mention fierce, wild animals lying down when you walk on by –
The Universe

Pretending is so powerful, Jessica. Look how far it’s already taken you.

Definitely needed to read that today! So many signs from the universe lately are pointing me in this direction! ❤

Synchronicities

The Universe knows how hard I’ve been working to network, make connections, learn everything that I can, and unremittingly working an excess of jobs and hours to save money for the big move to Nashville. This week, there’s been some amazing coincidences, that I truly believe is more than just happenstance. If you haven’t established yet that I’m crazy for the 8 part-time jobs that I currently juggle, well, crazy just met crazier! I have two more job interviews tomorrow (non music related)… both of which I believe were placed in my path for a reason.

One of them is a bar-tending job, which is something that I can fall back on in Nashville if I don’t land my dream music industry job right away. (I have zero previous experience, which means the bars in Nashville wouldn’t even look twice at me… but this will make it so that I DO have experience on my resume!) The other is a nannying job, which I have several of… but after speaking with the Mom on the phone, I learned that her best friend works at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and has been in the country music industry for a long time! HOLY SERENDIPITY! What are the chances?!? Hopefully I can develop a good relationship with this family and Mom can pass along a good word for me to her BFF for when I get there.

Sprinkling Pixie Dust & Making History

capture-kelsea-1

I am SO beyond proud of this wonderful, beautiful, humble, kind, bright and shining STAR! I’ve listened to her debut album so many times that it should be a crime. I’ve wholeheartedly supported her since day 1… and now she is the FIRST debut female artist in country music history to have her first 3 singles go #1! Can’t wait to see how far her next single, “Yeah Boy” goes! I’m willing to bet it will be another #1 for her career.

Dreams Chased Become Dreams Caught!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I don’t know how else to say this, but my journey is living proof that when you dedicate your heart and soul to something, dreams really can (and do) come true.

I was inspired to write this post after today’s daily prompt was simply the word, Dream.

April 15th, 2013 – Purchased my domain name, countryheartbeat.com

April 2014 – Boutique was launched in February two months prior, official launch for this blog was June 2014, two months after. Nothing specific that I can remember happened on the 15th though…

April 15th, 2015 –  Recently hired as the very first Street Team member at WPOR 101.9 (read how here). I worked my very first radio event where I was able to be the official photographer on this significant date! (See the throwback post from my facebook page below.)

As you can see… yes, I stuck with it this time! 😉

April 15th, 2016 – Officially asked to be a part of the 7-Hills Nashville team! One of the first labels of it’s kind, 7-Hills is dedicated to putting the artist and their music first. So often in this industry, artists are told what to record and how to record it, and their label is in control of everything they do and even what they are allowed to say! Not with 7-Hills! I’m so excited to start this new adventure and to grow with this company!

Apparently there is some deep significance surrounding the date of April 15th on a yearly basis (and no, it’s not “tax day” that I’m talking about!). April 15th seems to be a pivotal point in this country music dream of mine. I cannot wait to see what April 15th, 2017 will bring! I should be living happily in Nashville at that point! 🙂

Keep chasing your dreams, guys. It’s worth it, I promise! Dig deep to discover what you’re passionate about and visualize your goals and where they will take you! I promise you’ll find happiness when you figure out what you were placed on this Earth to do! The Universe and myself are rooting for you! ❤

ACM Week Recap – Day 1 – Maine to California

Wednesday March 30th, 2016

My adventures started off by being asked to call KBUL 98.1 in Revo, NV shortly after arriving at the airport! I had connected with their morning show host, Bob Richards, on twitter a couple of weeks before. During my search to win fly away’s to Vegas for the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards, I entered every contest that existed. I secured a one way flight, just in case I didn’t win, to insure that I would get there. However, while being there, I also had my hopes set on being able to attend the 3-Day Party For A Cause Festival. The price of the 3-day festival, however, was $175 before taxes and fees. Definitely not something that I could afford on my own, on top of flights, especially with this trip having a super strict budget!

Luckily I believe in manifesting your desires and the Law of Attraction. I believe that acting like you already have something (or in this care that you’re already attending) will help the Universe deliver what it is that you want. BUT, you must also put in the effort to obtain this desire, and ASK. You’re not going to get what you want magically (unless you’re insanely lucky)… you have to take some action. So I searched the official PFAC hashtag, #ACMparty on twitter to find contests to enter. I entered the ones that I could, but the “call in to win” ones, I knew I would be unable to listen to non-local radio stations day in and day out. So I reached out to the KBUL Moo Crew in Reno, NV.

Hey HIGH VALLEY, Can I Make You Mine?

HV Make You Mine Single Image

I’ve been waiting for a day like today in the office since I started working for my local country radio station, WPOR! Mid morning my boss told me that High Valley would be coming in around noon to play us some songs. I’ve been covering at the desk at the radio station (which I absolutely LOVE) and switching off days with another girl. On one of the days that she was here covering, Dan + Shay came in unexpectedly and I was so jealous and bummed that I had missed them! So this definitely made up for it!

Surprisingly, I had yet to hear of High Valley and did some research immediately. Turns out, these two musicians from a rural Canadian town about as high up as Alaska are pretty talented! I guess they are a pretty big deal already in Canada, earning many accolades including 10 GMA Canada Covenant Awards, multiple CCMA Award and JUNO Award nominations and the 2013 CCMA Award for Interactive Artist of the Year. In 2014, their top 5 single, “Country Line”, held the record as the longest running Top 10 hit on the Canadian country music charts! They’ve opened up for several major acts including Little Big Town, Alan Jackson, and Shania Twain.

You Just Gotta Believe

Shine Bright!

“How are you going to make enough money to survive? How are you going to make this happen? Where are you going to work? Do you even have a plan?”

In the words of Big Kenny (of Big & Rich):

“You just gotta believe. You come to this town and you start meeting all these people and you become inspired. Everywhere you go there’s someone who can play, someone who can write a song. You finally meet enough of them that you start to think to yourself, ‘Wow, maybe I am kind of normal after all.'”

Nashville. “It’s a crazy town full of neon dreams, everybody plays, everybody sings.”

Although I don’t have the typical musician dream, I do have a dream of working in the country music industry. I fully believe that once I am there, surrounded by the people that make this crazy passion of mine feel “normal,” that this dream is going to really take flight. Thriving most on inspiration, I am positive that, although I might feel slightly threatened by the competition at first, it’s what I truly need.

Empowering Women

miranda-lambert-tweet-286x400

When it comes to empowering females in the country music world, Miranda Lambert is one name that comes to mind. As a part of this blog, my goal is to inspire not only women, but anyone who wants to rise higher in their personal lives and/or careers. This might be “old news” to some of you, but right now I’m on an “empowerment kick” and learning about what Miranda is doing for one lucky girl attending Belmont is definitely empowering and inspiring!

Established in 2015, the Miranda Lambert Women Creators Fund will provide over $40,000 to a female attending Belmont University in Nashville who is majoring in songwriting, entertainment industry studies or music business. The first scholarship will affect the 2016-17 school year. (Which, in that case, should I consider going back to school?!?) Several years ago I looked into Belmont, before realizing I didn’t want to have to go through all of those prerequisite and core classes again. Just take me straight to the music business courses, please! Nor do I have that kind of money to invest into a second college education. Thankfully, I’ve learned along this journey that you don’t need a Belmont degree to land a career in Nashville’s music industry. I would rather devote my hard work towards networking and gaining real-life experience instead of spending time in a classroom.

Reflections & What I Want In 2016

image

Lately I’ve been finding myself comparing my twitter/instagram/facebook page to others in this world of country fan sites/blogs. I’m noticing how many followers they have in comparison with me, and I know this is partially due to the fact that they are on top of the latest news stories that fans want to hear. I swore in the beginning that I would not be one of those sites/blogs, whose purpose is to relay the latest gossip in the country music industry or keep fans with the most up to date information. Nothing against them, because clearly they have hundreds of thousands more followers than I do… but I want my blog, my brand, Country Heartbeat to be a bit more personal. To tell a story. MY story. I want to introduce you to this life that I lead, that yeah, happens to be immersed in country music. It’s the thing I’m most passionate about, and much to my boyfriend’s dismay, comes first above everything. I want to inspire people to chase their dreams, to step out of their comfort zone, to grab hold of something that they love and take a leap of faith, to do things they never thought they could do.

I had a talk with a close friend recently that helped me realize that out of our group of friends, or even out of the people in this local area… heck, even in all of Maine… don’t love the industry in the same way that I do. One of my best friends since early childhood, God love her, once commented on my new profile picture with Lee Brice on his tour bus and asked, “Is that your new man?”. Oh, sweet Jesus. These people around here just don’t get it.

That’s why I’ve got to get to Nashville, and soon. That’s why I love every minute of “The Week Vegas Goes Country” aka ACM week, where I can surround myself with those friends who are as passionate about country music as I am. I’ve got friends from California, South Dakota, Minnesota, Florida, Ohio… all these people come together in Vegas and are as crazy about it as I am.

I’m the Dreamer, Soaking Up Every Line…

NEW MUSIC MONDAY!

opaque new music mon

I’m the dreamer, soaking up every line
Searching for truth all the time
The believer, that music can save a soul
The one who’s at every show, in the front row,
Singin’…

Trying my best to not be a “basic white girl” right now, but… I can’t even. I can’t even get over the goosebumps that I felt hearing this song for the first time today, I can’t even describe to you how much joy my heart felt and how much that I could relate to every note and every lyric. I was literally blown away when I heard Charles Kelley’s new song, “The Driver” on WPOR this morning. Upon returning home and immediately looking up the lyrics/video and downloading it from iTunes, I discovered that Eric Paslay and Dierks Bentley also collaborate on what is SURE to be the 2016 ACM Vocal Event of the Year… if not DECADE. This song is going to soar to the top of the charts and win many, many awards. This masterpiece was beautifully written by Charles Kelley, Eric Paslay and Abe Stoklasa. It’s the story of the road… these artists on tour that pour their hearts and souls into every show. Me? I’m one of those dreamers, a believer, a singer… at every show, in the front row. I wouldn’t have it any other way! Please take a look and listen! You won’t be disappointed!

If you’d like to purchase this song from iTunes, click here!

Please let me know what you think below in the comments. I would love to hear from you. 🙂
